THE BIG CHESS DAY OUT
The BIG CHESS DAY OUT is a series of events designed to make chess accessible, enjoyable and a feature of the family home. Participants will enjoy the coaching, challenging puzzles, fun and competitive games, fascinating stories about chess history, crazy competitions and opportunities to teach others how to play. Students and parents will engage in chess and develop a deeper appreciation for the game whilst improving skills.
February 16: Catastrophic Chess
7-round tournament mixed in with crazy alternate games – for students Years 2-12
March 16: Chess for Beginners
Students teaching students how to play chess
May 4: Starz Warz Chess
A dress-up event celebrating Star Wars Day (May the 4thbe with you)
The ultimate battle between the Dark Side and the Light Side with Star Wars themed rules and games that simulate Star Wars battles
June 1: Going Bush!
A visit to regional areas to teach and play chess
August 3: Family Fracas including Chess-Bowling
Fun and competitive games for families to battle themselves and others
September 7: Chess Olympics
Mad crossover games (e.g. Chess-Football) and 7 rounds of tournament play with participants split into teams – for students Years 2-12
October 26: Chess for Beginners

November 23 – Catastrophic Chess
